Q : I have 8 and 9 year old children who are keen to enter the 3K
A : We do not encourage children under 11 to run in the Junior 3K Race, because it is a single lap course run on hard road surfaces with traffic. UK Athletics rules do allow children over 9 to run 3K races, so children who are experienced runners can run providing the parents understand the risks.
Q: Will there will be mile and/or kilometre markers on the course?
A: Yes we have kilometre markers on the course.
Exactly at each KM there will be a yellow line sprayed about 3-4 foot long from kerb towards middle of road, plus the KM number , e.g. 8
On the nearest fixture (lamp post, telegraph pole) we have estate agent size boards with KM markers, 2k, 3k etc.
The boards are mostly on runners side of road.
Q: Will there be car-parking available?
A: Free parking is available nearby, plenty of spaces if you follow signs to Woodley library
Q: Could you please tell me whether you will be accepting on-the-day entries for the Woodley 10k and 3K Races
A: No, due to popular advance entry in 2010 we had to close our entry ahead of race day. The entries received for 2011 indicate that we will probably be full by the end of 1st week of May.
Q: I was hoping to submit 2 late entry forms for the 2010 Woodley 10k on the Runnersworld website, but there doesn't appear to be any way of doing so (as it has closed). What is the best way forward for a late entry...if I & a friend turn up on the day will we be able to register & if so what time should we come?
A: Unfortunately when we reach capacity we are unable to allocate any further race numbers. Please ensure you enter next year as early as possible to avoid disspointment. There will be no entry on the day for 2011 race.
Q: I am planning to run the race on Sun and as it will be my first 10k, I am not sure how these things are organised so have a very simple question.... I have to drive to the event and so is there anywhere that I can leave my keys or any other personal belongings whilst running the race?
A: Good choice for coming to Woodley for your first 10K. It is fairly flat, with lots of friendly Marshalls to encourage you along and a good atmosphere at the start / finish. There will be a warm up session run by Rachel, our energetic personal trainer, immediately prior to the race. You can leave personal belongings at a left luggage facility that we operate in Coronation Hall. With your race pack / runners number we give you a card label with your running number on it . Tie this to your rucksack / bag, or bin liner (provided by us) with your stuff in. When you come back from the race wearing your running number, we return your bag. |
